You probably have a sunroof in your S70 stickshift too, you rascal. Gotta get that AC working.
If you put a small bungy cord on it inside, if youR hood release cable breaks, you can easily pop the hood, too.
What did you do to your Volvo today? Topic is solved

I may have been drafting a couple box trucks... But it was fun watching my trip computer say I was averaging 60+mpg for those moments.
Seriously considering the AC especially being on the backside of winter

New pulleys usually have a lot more resistance than old ones, so it's probably normal if it's brand new. Definitely sounds like your AC clutch/pulley is shot. They'll make a nasty noise when they start breaking apart. I bet it was wobbling quite a bit too!ZionXIX wrote: ↑12 Feb 2020, 20:32 So for a while now I've been trying to track down a loud noise on the passenger side of the engine bay. The sound changes pitches when the AC is turned on. I was suspicious of the AC pulley bearing and decided to do the AC delete with the oreillys serpentine belt #K060495. Its fits very well and my engine is quiet again after many years of noise making.
I also had to rig up my own serpentine tension tool because of course I waited until all the stores were closed and despite saying "I need to get one of those tools or make one" for years and I still haven't.
So now that the AC is "out of the loop" I can freely spin the pulley and it spins very well for a good 10-15 seconds before stopping. I hear a slight metal on metal sliding/scraping noise.
As far as I can tell that bearing is free. I bought a replacement bearing some time ago but it's really difficult to turn. Should a new bearing have that much resistance?
My cousin's was in BAD shape, looked like it was about to shake itself off. We ended up just swapping in a whole AC compressor since it was easier at the time.

How do you like your 2005 version? I'm over here in the middle of Norway. I'm really happy with mine so far, although it needs a wash after yesterdays roadtrip to bring it home. It doesn't seem to be as thirsty as I feared it might be, at least not when driving mostly economically.
I get well over 30 mpg ( about 8 liters/ 100 km or better) which is good for a big estate car.
Do you have a 5 speed like mine, too?
Yeah mine is also a 5 speed, automatic.
I plunged my car into the snowbank going about 40km/h in an 80km/h zone in a slight corner while driving it home on monday. This is something I've never actually managed to do before in my 10 years of driving. It was 0C, horribly slushy roads and a snowstorm bad enough that you see less with the brights on than normal driving lights (it was night) because all you see is the snow falling. Next to no grip on the road. Even with good, spiked snow tires I had almost no control and couldn't brake for shit, so I just let go of the brake, turned the steering wheel (FWD) and gave a tiny bit of gas so as to not go into the snowbank headlights first. Hit the snow with the drivers side front corner, and got out with no problem. No damage to my car at all! Gotta say I'm glad I was driving my V70, if I was in my old Hyundai i10 I'd probably still be in the snowbank

Well, I replaced my heater hose firewall coupler and gave my S70 a much needed wash.
