Need help with a couple things..

What's up everyone?!

I need some help with a couple things.

First off, what is this valve(?) that is by my radiator?
Any ideas?

Also, can anyone help me decide my VIN plate?
I can't seem to make heads or tails of it.... (Chassis #, ECT)
Any help would be awesome!

That's the SAS solenoid.

http://new.volvocars.com/ownersdocs/199 ... n1998.html says that for your car, as for almost every 98 V70XC:

Vehicle Series L = S70/V70

Body style Z = 5 Door V70XC AWD & Dual Airbags (SRS) & Pretensioners

Engine 56 = B5254T Emissions = 4 (Auto. Only include. AWD)

Emissions 4 = w/o EGR w/air pump, w/OBDII, w/elec. control evap,
Motronic 4.4 w/RuLo., (52, 53, 55, 56)

etc. but those are the only VIN codes that really matter. Some people like to report which factory it came from oooooohhhh
