S60 side airbag layout, need help ASAP

Post by CIK7 »

As ive stated on my thread about the turbos (i still need answers for that thread), i have a chance to raid some volvos at a junkyard near me. I want to take the side curtain airbags from the 2004 s60 they have and put them on my 1998. I need help figuring out where the side airbag sensors are so i can take them too. Please help me ASAP, im going to the jy on Saturday.

It is so far from that easy. The main sensor and decisions are in the control module in the center console by parking brake handle on P2 models that have this feature. The module needs CAN communication from CEM. The harness plug in your car will not fit on the one for the system that runs curtains, seat airbags and dual inflation device steering and dash airbags. The steering column in your car will not hold the contact reel that carries the conductors from column through wheel to air bag. There are sensors on side of B pot and C post as additional measurements of side collision force. The bodies are different enough that the sensing will not be correct and the curtains would likely not deploy when they should. The body structure of P80 platform is not made with attaching points or with a headliner made to conceal the curtains. You will spend more time and money than to buy a P2 model with the feature that will work and has been tested and built with that feature.
