Can i use volvo s60 2.3L turbo units on 1998 v70?

Post by CIK7 »

I have a chance to raid a 1998 v70 and a 2004 s60 at the junkyard this friday. All i can carry for $50. The junkyard may not really have an s60 with a 2.3L, but thats what inventory says. Im assuming if its a 2.3L, its the T5 because its a low chance that its the R model. My questions: what turbo model comes on the 2.5T, T5 and R models and can i use those turbos on the 1998 v70?

Ive searched for a listing of turbo tyoes by car unsucessfully

I think your understanding is correct in that there are three families

Low Pressure Turbo on the XC

High Pressure Turbo on the T5

Higher Pressure Turbo on the R

The volvowebstore will list everything by part number at least - maybe go there an put in car details and get the part number spit out, then google those to get the Mitsubishi specs on each one.

FCP lists by HPT as part 8602395 for example.

So for the p80 ingeneral, turbos from 13G to 19T are used. Is there not specific naming for the P2 generation?

Most websites are refering to the 2004 S60R as '2.5T' instead of 2.3'

I found the answer! Ummm a little bit unconventional to the 'being sensitive' naming scheme- Volvo or Mitsubishi (or both) call the s60r turbo 'K24' and the T5 turbo 'KKK'. At least thats what someone on SwedeSpeed said.
