See attached pictures. I am going to message him tomorrow morning to see if it's still available. Too good to be true? I have an 850 and I know the mileage can be an inaccurate as it's common for the odometer to stop working. Any issues I should be aware of with the s70?
For context, I have a 96 850 with about 220k. Timing belt, power steering and possibly struts needed.
Any input appreciated! Will see if it's even still available tomorrow.

This is a very low mileage. A 98 is a good year to have as it is pre-99 where a lot of extra electronics were added. 99- are easier to diagnose due to availability of Vida Dice to scan them. There are products to scan these older models but a little more rudimentary.
Timing belt would be a good idea unless the mileage that and date is known and is fairly recent. Not sure what is or could be wrong with the steering. Is it leaking or is it vague? If the latter it may not be the rack which is a big and expensive job.
Brakes are not a huge issue but will rack up the $$$ too.
At this age I would be hugely surprised if there is not a long list of other issues mainly due to age of degradable parts like rubber pipes.
Unless you really know these cars, I would strongly recommend having a Volvo expert go over the car. They may not find everything but should find most. Believe it or not, I usually have a Volvo dealer I know to check the cars over for me as a spare pair of eyes. They charge me around $200 but worth the money if it saves me buying a wreck, and they should be able to verify the mileage.
What condition is the interior? Look for wear on the pedals, the steering wheel and seats in particular as well as the seatbelts. All these should be able to give clues if the mileage is possibly real.
I would go into this with eyes wide open, and ideally take someone else with you for that second pair of eyes.
Good Luck!
Neil.

What Neil said but my bottom line message would be "jump on it." Just the usual used car stuff, no special weak spots for an S70 with such low mileage. You may need to overhaul the PCV too, give it a glove test. And replace any rotting rubber vacuum lines while you're at it.
98 is the best year for the x70 cars. The 98 odometer is not prone to break like the 850 one does, so unless they monkeyed with it the mileage should be fine. This one is a non-turbo which means easier engine maintenance.

You will need a code reader to check for engine codes ( can’t have the check engine light on in MA) but if it passes the glove test ( remember when we did that in Bedford?) and has no knocks in the engine it looks like a deal!
