V70 LED Headlights Conversion
V70 LED Headlights Conversion
Greetings All! I drive a 2000 V70 wagon. Is it possible to convert my headlights to super-bright LED bulbs without modifying the wiring or other OEM equipment? If so, what brand(s) do you recommend? The bulbs that I saw on Amazon said something about "canbus" compatibility, which I know nothing about. By the way, I live in Connecticut. Thank you!

I've been running HIDs on stock wiring for almost 10 years with no issues. You should be fine...but it would be nice if you retrofitted projectors so you don't shoot light everywhere and blind everyone.

I converted my halogen bulbs to LEDs for both low and high beams using stock wiring. I happen to have found a great pair of aftermarket headlamps from the local PnP that had shiny reflectors, clear lenses and decent beam cutoff. I never have anyone flash me for blinding them when using my low beams. I first purchased the low beam LEDs that are rated at 6000 lumen. The high beam LEDs are rated at 5000 lumen. They were purchased separately from different suppliers and price points. I am too lazy to switch them around. I was able to squeeze the ballast and wiring inside the headlamp housing without modification. So far no problems. Great result! Because the headlamp lenses are standard USA spec some light is thrown off to the right side and is used to illuminate road signs, very effective if pointless. Make sure to look for the dimensions of the ballast and the bulbs. It is a tight fit and smaller components will make the installation easier.

Yes. They work great. Here's what I used
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07VPDL9 ... UTF8&psc=1
Mine is a '95 so double check your bulb sizes. Mine took four total bulbs.
Remember to use the MVS link for Amazon!

So to be clear, you bought 2 sets of the same bulbs? For 4 total bulbs all identical?callahanoffroad wrote: ↑02 Mar 2020, 18:28 Yes. They work great. Here's what I used

Ah I can see that was misleading. Four Bulb 850 headlights use one pair of 9005 head light bulbs for the high beams and one pair of 9006 for the low beams. The link is to a general listing for the bulb brand I used. I do not know what size bulbs go into an v70 though. You'd have to look that up.ZionXIX wrote: ↑02 Mar 2020, 20:11So to be clear, you bought 2 sets of the same bulbs? For 4 total bulbs all identical?callahanoffroad wrote: ↑02 Mar 2020, 18:28 Yes.
