First off, hello everyone. I hope I can find some help here. Story goes like this: The fuel pump died in my 2000 V70 with 165k. It took me about 3 months to find the time to fix it. I put the new pump in and it died in about 15 minutes. Returned the pump and replaced it and it is working fine with one major issue, It is extremely hard to start when cold. I turn the key and it catches for a second then just cranks. After dozens of times of this and feathering of the throttle and I'm able to get it to run, but not idle right. Once it warms up for 5-10 minutes, it runs, idles and starts as normal. There are no codes stored. I thought it might be bad gas (it had about 1/3 of a tank) so I filled it to dilute it but no effect. Driving it distance and at speed has no effect. I think this is incidental, but the temperature gauge is reading inaccurately. I've ordered a new sensor for it.
I'm stumped. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Mike

Might be fuel filter clogged by nasty fuel. Try removing fuel filter and drain filter back out the inlet. Check for debris and dark fuel. If bad, replace the fuel filter. Dilution of the bad gas may not work well and you will have to drain and replace all fuel. Also, check fuel pressure at the fuel rail of engine. Is the battery fully charged? Check the voltage with engine off.

You answered your own question.
ECT MUST be oem Volvo or at least Vernet...otherwise you will be chasing your tail on this.
Could be also a corrosion on the connector...ect side and wiring harness side.
