Re: Broke lower Shock stud - seeking info on delta link/trailing arm
So this happened to me a few years ago. Took it to my local suspension shop, they cut the stud off and welded one off of the front stabilizer shock for a Jeep Wrangler. Worked perfectly for no less than 100k miles. Cost me about $45. Never broke but I ended up donating the car so who knows how long it worked in the end. Forever? Hahahaha

Interesting! I'm going back to a welding shop in my neighborhood today, but i was wondering what other type of shop could do this type of work.callahanoffroad wrote: ↑10 Mar 2020, 12:23 So this happened to me a few years ago. Got an extension welded on today but you're totally right, the bushings are completely shot. I found play right before I dropped the car back down.
Since you said it's easy to remove and replace, my thought is maybe pull a complete trailing arm with good bushings or pull one and replace all the bushings with it off the car, then drop the old and out the new one on. I'd rather not have the car half apart in my driveway for too long...

Info from Keith earlier this year on delta links - 5 hours listed for both sides
Well I did the Delta link end bushing change. It took me a total of 5 hours to do both sides. I did not buy the special tool I made one from a steering wheel universal puller and a piece of bed frame angle iron. Worked like a champ. If anyone is interested I can take a few pics and go further into the process and how I used my own tools. No welding, no bending.

The trailing arm end links seem like they're in fine condition, but I have up and down play on atleast one of the inner arm bushings, so that's the one I'm gonna do. Robert DIY said in a video that they're accessible without a tool, but I haven't found clean info in how to do these interior bushings yet. If you know of any threads for these ones that'd be super helpful!abscate wrote: ↑12 Mar 2020, 05:31 Info from Keith earlier this year on delta links - 5 hours listed for both sides

I think you replace the whole 'traverse arm mounting' with these parts, have to make the usual decision about Meyle vs Volvo for bucks
I don't think labor should be too bad if you work the hardware carefully - you have learned that lesson, I think

Dont click Qty 2 on these unless you have more than one Volvo - they are right/left handed - or chiral, if you want to emphasize the syzygy of vocabulary.

Hey Steve, I ordered the Meyle parts left and right last night, should get here by this weekend. Hoping to be done with the suspension soon so I can utilize the free alignment and be done with it all.
If there is no DIY with pics already in existence, maybe I'll do a write up for this one!

See if you can warm up those bolts with propane today.
Dont let the torch heat anything above the melting point of the plastic gas tank nearby. 15-30 seconds tight on the bolts, cool for a few minutes, then hit them with PBB for the weekend.
