Cruise control light comes on but will not engage?

Cruise control light comes on but will not engage?
So I am needing a bit of advice on my 02 S40T the cruise control light comes on when trying to set it but it will not catch? Has anyone else had this problem or could tell me if its a relay or if they experienced the same issue or how to fix it?

The first thing I would check is the brake light switch and the cruise control switch both on the brake pedal. Sometimes it is as simple as the switch slipped out of place.
