Coronavirus doctor in Wuhan says high blood pressure is key death risk - Patients with hypertension appear to be at a higher risk of dying from the coronavirus, said a top Chinese intensive care doctor who’s been treating critically ill patients since mid-January.

Chinese scientists identify two strains of the coronavirus, indicating it’s already mutated at least once - In a preliminary study published Tuesday, scientists at Peking University’s School of Life Sciences and the Institut Pasteur of Shanghai found that a more aggressive type of the new coronavirus had accounted for roughly 70% of analyzed strains, while 30% had been linked to a less aggressive type.

Take a look at the map of Europe. The ban applies to states with open borders. UK and Ireland do not have open borders. Somebody wants to sell the myth that closed borders is a solution to all ills.

Reminds me of the Missouri solution to the Arkansas problem. Missouri fenced in Arkansas.

.
As with any illness when your time is up it's up so just be more mindful of your activities rather than stress over it. Stress and anxiety can lower your immune system and if you are not sleeping well it will not help the respiratory system which the Corona attacks.

Trump’s travel ban sidesteps his own European resorts

President Donald Trump's new European travel restrictions have a
convenient side effect: They exempt nations where three Trump-owned

One specific issue that is being handled poorly due to poor scientific literacy in the media and elsewhere.

The fatality rate is being reported as 3.X% by the media, and the WHO is being reported as the source.

This isnt an accurate representation of the fatality rate. The WHO is reporting this number as a raw data of deaths/reported cases, and this is NOT the same as the fatality rate of COVID-19, which will be lower than the early, sparse statistics reports.

I work for a small travel company designing and leading educational trips, mostly to Europe. The last 3+ weeks (since it was found in Italy) has been pretty brutal, but in this weird slow burn way, just watching everything unravel. Although I'm starting to see the effects hit everyone else; my friends at the soup kitchen are doing take-away meals only, a buddy who works for a catering company just got laid off til atleast May, etc. I just hope nobody is too overleveraged on rent or mortgages or debt, because I think the economic effects are going to be more widespread. That said I'm 26 so I'm less worried about me getting sick, and this is my first time as a professional during a recession, so maybe my lense is different.

The positive has been having more time to work on the car, which has been honestly very therapeutic. It's amazing how refreshing it can be to solve clear, physical world problems with known solutions, when everything else is the opposite.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing ok during this tough time, and thanks again to the community for being such a great resource.

I get a lot of therapy from fixing both my and others' cars - and its cheaper than either therapists or mechnanics - and you get free used oil if you play your cards right.

I wish the media would talk more about the survival rates and stop dwelling on death rates. How many thousands of people self quarantined and medicated with OTC meds and are recovering, unfortunately we'll probably never know. Tom and Rita Hanks have a platform here to educate people and give updates on their well being. "This to shall pass"

I'm a pretty selfless guy so I like to donate my used oil to my local parts store. They always seem happy to take it so I'm assuming they need it more than me. You should try thinking about someone besides yourself, Steve.
