In my experience the transition is clean starting in 99 yes. But I read on this forum somewhere recently that some 98 may have the squeeze locks? Or that was something else ... Just eyeballing them will settle it very simply

Hey, does anybody know how to properly install the green retainer clips onto the oil coolant hoses and to the radiator?

You have to slide it onto the end of the hose, then clip it into the radiator. There's a groove in the hose end for the green clip to grab onto.

So slide it to the end of the hose where the ring stops it? Or snap it on to the tip of the hose?

You don't have oil cooler to radiator hoses on a MY 2000 unless the engine has been swapped. That uses the box style cooler on the right side of the engine, rear of car.

For the transmission they should look like this, and they push in until you hear the nice click of the green ears engaging the groove

Yup, you only have a transmission cooler on your 2000, but that's how they are installed.
