Many thanks again for replying.
Richard, my internet searches came up with the same Vishay Diode 1N4148WS. If I have no joy with Alps then that may be the route I take.
I have been trying to understand the workings of diodes and the in/out voltages/current are the important bits. Still, I would really like the specs from Alps.
Jreed, sorry I may have been unclear earlier. I managed to find some loose solder connectors on my ECC and once I reflowed the pins I started to get the correct voltages from the rear connector block A. The ECC service manual then pointed me towards the power stage which is where I found the burnt/corroded diode. So the A2 diode position D4 is actually inside the power stage.
Sorry for the misunderstanding and thank you for taking the time to photograph your ECC which incidently looks exactly like mine.
André
The diode is near the bottom of the pcb

Ah ha! Thanks for clarifying.
For what it's worth, I checked the boards inside the two spare power stages that I got from the junkyard, and they're slightly different than the one you pictured above. The version I have is marked ALPS ANJ97010J (revision 10J I guess) and yours is marked ANJ97011E (version 11E, presumably a more recent version). The layouts are different... for example, in the area near the electrolytic capacitors where you show a R25, D4 (the failed part), R26 and R29, the boards on mine are D5, R4, and R29.

My boards:

Thank you both for replying.
I haven't has any response from ALPS as of today but I live in hope.
Thank you jreed for the pictures. My pcb say ISSUE MO3 and I believe yours is ISSUE MO5, perhaps yours is the later version and mine earlier.
So, If I understand this correctly I can/cannot simply swap the power stage without it being a corresponding part to match the ECC?
RHP, where on do I obtain the VIDA?. The pdf on my computer is a blank screen.
I will try to open the pdf again on my work computer.
Many thanks again for replying

Because...when you try to download that "pdf" it magically becomes "php"...for some reason.

The pdf loads correctly on my computers. Then again I uploaded it. Try left click then "save link as..." .

For VIDA go here and read at least pages 1, 6 & 16. The hyperlinks in the page 6 install instructions are dead. Use the magnet link on page 16 as instructed. You will need the 2099 patch on page #1.

List the Volvo part number on the ECC so that we can figure out what version it is and what power stages will work with it.

Hello,
Sorry for the delay in replying..... but it seems here in London things are extremely volatile. Sadly, panic buying is the new thing.
Anyway, I have been hoping ALPs will e-mail me as it's almost two weeks and two e-mails, I may now draw a line under ALPS.
RHP. I have tried to get VIDA going but with no luck. In fairness, I have been overwhelmed with other things lately (see first line) but will try again when things settle down. In the interim, I shall take a pic of my ECC part numbers as suggested.

Once again sorry for the delay in responding.
André

Hello everyone, So sorry for the delay in replying but as you know there have been some lifestyle changes recently which I am adjusting to.
Finally, 1N4148W SMD swithching/general purpose diodes arrived in the post this week although I have had no time to focus on this.
I have had the time to take a pic of my ECC part number which I promised to do which is included.

Hopefully, I'll be able to try out the replacement diode.
Sorry for the delay replying and hope everyone is trying to keep safe.
Andre
p.s I have had no reply either way from ALPS.

Use any unit before line 6 would require rewiring. (1992 & 1993).

6 1994 week 01 D+ supply added (ºC) 9144255 / (ºF) 9144256.
7 1994 week 12, Right-hand drive, Suppression introduced, (ºC) 9134769 / (ºF) 9134770
8 1994 week 23, Left-hand drive, Suppression introduced, (ºC) 9134769 / (ºF) 9134770
9 1995 week 02, Diagnostic test mode (DTM) 2 removed (ºC) 9134819 / (ºF) 9134820
10 1995 week 38, Size change, front panel, (ºC) 9166549 / (ºF) 9166550

Pretty sure the only difference between Celsius and Fahrenheit units is the front panel.
