I haven't verified this information, but it's quite interesting, have a look and perhaps add transmission fluid change to it http://www.volvohowto.com/category/sche ... nce-plans/

Every one year or 20.000 kms / 12.000 miles, you should:

– Replace the engine oil and oil filter
Oh yeah. Volvo recommends Castrol, too! ;)

Additionally every three years or 60.000 kms / 37.000 miles, you should:

Replace the engine Air filter cleaner (ACL) and clean the engine air filter housing.
Every 3 years? :-D

12000 miles that's pretty crazy, even with a good synthetic, I wouldn't stretch it that much unless driving 90% highway in summer time and the engine is in tip top condition

Driving highway in summer time actually generates a lot of heat in this engine. I mean, typical 80 MPH at 90+ degrees weather in MA - tons of heat! The engine does not have enough capacity to cool down cylinders 4 and 5 properly, why stress it even more?

These schedules do not match the recommended intervals in my 1999 V70 manual, at least

Oil and filter changes are listed at 7500 miles, not 12500
