Usually...when it will not crank in "P" because of dirty contacts in p'n'p switch....it cranks in "N" without problems.

I would read that as still a possibility , and the remote starter terminal would basically nail it. If it won’t crank on that terminal, but will if you apply voltage to the spade terminal on the starter, it’s the PNP

Put it in park and then touch a wire from the terminal to the battery B+

This bypasses the ignition switch and the starter relay

17/1 = Remote starter terminal.
2/35 = Starter relay.
3/71 = PNP.
6/25 = Starter motor.

I bumped the remote starter terminal thread with pictures.

Make sure the car is in park

Key to position 2, on, nomcranking.

Touch a piece of wire from the B+ terminal inboard, to the connector In the white housing in the picture.

This should make the car crank and start

Thanks Steve. Car fired right up with a jumper wire. Diagnosis seems to be original ignition switch has given up the ghost at 235 K miles.
