If we accept the published numbers as at least somewhat indicative, I project that within the next 9 days the US will reach 1 million published known cases. Because it took the past 8 days to go from 10K to 100K and the previous 8 days to go from 1K to 10K. And that exponential trend has been quite steady. Coupled with the quote of people in Florida sitting around the pool discussing how bad things are 'someplace else'. That attitude is what has gotten us to this point.
Meanwhile, for some levity for those working from home, we are using the attached bingo card during virtual meetings.

Hydroxychloroquine for Covid-19 requires more data before use
...
...
Hydroxychloroquine, which is sold by Concordia Pharmaceuticals under
the brand name Plaquenil, and chloroquine are oral prescription drugs
that have been used for many years to prevent and treat malaria and
certain inflammatory conditions. Although these agents are
well-established, they possess the potential to cause numerous side
effects and should be used with caution in those who are diabetic,
those with neurological disorders, and those with vision disorders.
Recent data highlights how hydroxychloroquine retinopathy is more
common than previously reported. Other side effects include
cardiomyopathy and bone marrow suppression, but these are not commonly
reported.
...
...
The initial outcome was deemed positive; however, the results showed
that it had a comparable assessment of conventional treatment alone.
The study prospectively observed a population of 30 patients with mild
Covid-19, where hydroxychloroquine was administered at a dose of 400mg
per day for five days (HCQ) and randomised against a control group.
While 13 patients (86.7%) in the HCQ group cleared the virus on Day 7,
14 patients (93.3%) in the control group managed the same with
conventional treatment alone. Furthermore, the median duration of
hospitalisation to virus nucleic acid negative conversion was similar
in both groups.

Doctor Who has broadcast a heartwarming 'emergency transmission' to help us through the coronavirus pandemic

"Stay strong. Stay positive. You've got this."
...
...
In an "emergency transmission," the worldly time-traveler reveals that the T.A.R.D.I.S. has been picking up "psychological signals" and wants to remind viewers to look out for one another. "You won't be the only one worried," she says. In the minute-long clip, the Doctor explains that she is self-isolating (or hiding) from an army of Sontarans, and has a few pieces of advice for those who are currently forced to do the same…

I would not consider this person rumor prone:

@DrMattMcCarthy
Asst Prof at WeillCornell; Author of SUPERBUGS, THE REAL DOCTOR WILL SEE YOU SHORTLY...

Footnote - "Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City has been a community of world-class physicians, researchers and educators..."

I respect this type of news reporting

NYT: March 27, 2020 - More Americans Should Probably Wear Masks for Protection
Experts have started to question whether masks may offer at least some protection to healthy individuals and essential workers.
...
...
“If everyone in the community wears a mask, it could decrease transmission,” Dr. Fishman said. “But unfortunately I think that we don’t have enough masks to make that effective policy in the U.S.”

A council representing more than 800,000 doctors across the U.S. signed a letter Friday imploring President Donald Trump to reverse his call for businesses to reopen by April 12, warning that the president’s flouting of the guidance of public health experts could jeopardize the health of millions of Americans and throw hospitals into even more chaos as they fight the coronavirus pandemic.

The Council of Medical Specialty Societies—a coalition comprised of such physicians’ groups as the American College of Emergency Physicians, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, and the American College of Preventive Medicine—called for the president’s leadership in encouraging Americans to continue practicing social distancing to slow the spread of the coronavirus, officially known as COVID-19.
