Okay, I think I can find the carbs here at the house. I need to make gaskets - can't find them to buy. Rest of car is in storage.

Very good, I did not know about them. Not surprising though. Edmond (North side of Oklahoma City) is maybe the capital of Volvo interest in OK.

Today, I found the PV544 carb, and gasket material and hole punches. First 544 activity in years. Tag- your it.

No, I found one of the SU carbs. Pretty sure the other carb is in storage building.

Just kidding.

Found mine. Years of body shop dust and grime. Now I need to learn how to rebuild them. I actually only pulled them to get to the front suspension bolts on the right side. But they've been sitting so many years, they're probably gunked up.

Looks like those Webers are missing a few bolts and cover plates. The internet knows all about these. On closer inspection of my SU carb, the choke linkage has lots of slop in the pivot points. Thinking I may fill the holes with epoxy mix and drill out to proper pin size. These linkage levers are cast brass and look really cool.

Some actual progress!! Moved the other car out, the lawn mower, the shop vac, a transmission, and dug all this out.

It's a bit like reconstructing a crime scene. As I sorted through parts and pieces, I realized I had started to refurbish some of the bits, painted some, had some new bushings pressed in. So it's taking a while to verify what's old and what's new! I made notes on disassembly, and put stacks of washers and nuts on zip ties so the order is right, made some sketches. Lifesavers!

New bushings in lower A arms. New ball joint.

Old upper control arm and new adjustable control arm.

On this used upright I bought, which I obviously cleaned up and painted, I had a "speedi-sleeve" installed over a groove in the oil seal surface. I found later model 70's uprights and front hubs, which carry bigger Ate calipers. I'm changing the braking system from Dunlop to Ate, which includes swapping the rear axle.

I had to get at least one piece assembled so I felt like I was getting somewhere!
