Re: Say no to Rain-X windshield washer fluid ?
It's possible the formula is different between the game of X-rain fluids. I have now been using a Rain-X deicer All Season -45C (-49F) sold in Canada, for the past two years without problems. It's a dark orange color. It's excellent in very cold winter days at start up when the windshield is still cold, about the only fluid that doesn't completely freeze up and obstruct the view.

I gotta weigh in on Rain-X.
The stuff was given to me by a guy for whom I did a clear and unprevoked favor. He praised it to no end.
I agree.
I've given people Rain-X treatments for Christmas. It's magic.
After taking my first look at a Rain-X washer fluid jug I thought, "This is unnecessary". I never gave it a thought after that.

This ceramic coating is one of my favorite products. It lasts far longer than any other detailing product I’ve tried. What’s even cooler than that is how easy it is to apply. Only drawback is you need to use your own spray bottle. Effects on front glass are similar to rain-x, maybe not quite as hydrophobic. Car looks incredibly clean even after driving in rain & then drying.
Less is more with this detailer. I try to do it with the car still wet. Spray while wet, then dry as you normally would.

Thanks Pete, this stuff works great and just as you described! Gives more depth to the shine. Son did a phone video of the hydrophobic properties but I couldn't load it so here are a few Print Screen shots. He said it was the same with the hood. Water just glides off and pretty much disappear.
He used it on his 08 C30 and the shine was blinding due to the reflection. The picks are of the 03 GS300. Number 1 for cost and ease of use!

Started to use magic eraser on leather and car exterior. Normal washing first and then light soapy water with eraser, rinse and seal.

I thought Magic Eraser wasn't for smooth, shiny surfaces.

Still using this product and a gallon lasted almost 5 years. As Pete said, less is more with this product. For the exterior it is best to use it as a drying aid. Use a leaf blower first and just spray sparingly and wipe. No muscles needed as the towel will just glide per video. Works on the entire car, chrome, plastic, glass and will not leave any residue like car wax in all the nooks and crannies.

The Magic Eraser is ultra fine and pulls rather than scratch things off. I couldn't find the link where it attributed the Japanese for discovering the pad.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melamine_foam
In 1984, BASF launched the first commercially produced melamine resin foam, Basotect, which was originally marketed as a flame-retardant solution for soundproofing and thermal insulation in construction.[1]
In the early 21st century, it was discovered that melamine foam is an effective abrasive cleaner and the first Mr. Clean Magic Eraser was released in 2003.[4][5][6] Rubbing with a slightly moistened foam may remove otherwise "uncleanable" external markings from surfaces. For example, melamine foam can remove crayon, marker pen, and grease from painted walls and wood finishings, plastic-adhering paints from treated wooden tables, and adhesive residue and grime from hubcaps.[7] If the surface being cleaned is not sufficiently hard, it may be finely scratched by the melamine material. Similarly to a pencil eraser, the foam wears away during use, leaving behind a slight residue which can be rinsed off.
