It has been several days since I posted graphs for the COVID-19 infection growth rate of coastal and Midsouth states. They are presented below. Some trends look nice, but are they accurate? We will know in a couple weeks.

RE: "but are they accurate?"

Kansas would look like this, where blue is the total, and green is new. Click on chart, bottom left, to view.

For those not aware:

The U.S. Tried to Build a New Fleet of Ventilators. The Mission Failed.

As the coronavirus spreads, the collapse of the project helps explain America’s acute shortage.
=================

Newport had original contract to build ventilators, but was sold to Covidien, who didn't want to build these inexpensive portable ventilators since they had higher dollar ventilators to sell.

"Government officials and executives at rival ventilator companies said they suspected that Covidien had acquired Newport to prevent it from building a cheaper product that would undermine Covidien’s profits from its existing ventilator business."

Then later, "Covidien was sold for $50 billion to another huge medical device company, Medtronic."

So, Uncle Sam went with Phillips - "It wasn’t until last July that the F.D.A. signed off on the new Philips ventilator, the Trilogy Evo. The government ordered 10,000 units in December, setting a delivery date in mid-2020."

There are two people in the county with it...first one went to Oklahoma, and brought it back, and then infected a co-worker. For some reason, it appears so far their wives weren't affected...maybe they slept separately...both males are around 70 YO.

Pets aren’t carriers in the immunological sense, the virus can reside on them like any other surface, but people are going a little crazy worrying about contact exposure. You need a big exposure to develop most viral conditions, not casual contact with one virus, and hand washing takes care of that load ( better than Purell, by the way)

I think the detection limit for HIV viral load is something like 1000 counts per mil liter of blood ( about 20 drops) and anything under 10,000 counts per ml is considered not at risk for developing CD4 deficiency

You can sage Fido and Katze for food for later.

We order food for our Ferrets online because the pet stores do not sell the good stuff. This month we ordered twice from different vendors and neither one shipped. Don't have much of a choice but to get the lower grade stuff from a pet store.
