I'm just trying to follow this bumpy thread - So when you connect the jumper wire, does the starter engage the instant you make the circuit ?
Kind of like the days/cars of old when you could jump the starter off the fender wall mounted solenoid with a screwdriver ?

Thanks Steve. Fired up instantly with a wire between positive battery post and service starter connection.

Nice. Mike is borrowing my T5 while his truck is getting fixed. It amused him greatly when the clutch switch went out and he called me and I told him

Open black bag in trunk
Open cream cheese container labeled electrical
Remove blue,wire
Put car I. Neutral
Key on
Plug blue wire into white terminal
Touch to B+

Elapsed time, 2 minutes

Would that also override the anti theft system?

I don't think so. Per Steve's instructions, key has to be in and at position 2, so the immobilizer has to be allowed to do its thing. Didn't try w/o key, so don't know if it would work. Suspect not.

It will crank but the engine won’t start.
