looking for preformance upgrades for 2002 S40 1.9T

Post by seanq1016 »

ive spent a lot of time looking for upgrades for my S40 got a new open air filter from pepboys and it fits air box side of the map sensor just unbolted from top half of air box and clamped the new air filter to it had to drill a small hole in lower side of air box to strap tie airfilter so it wouldnt shake all over the place and got a surprising preformance and sound boost and only spent $40.00 much better than spending over $150.00 on most "cold air intakes" but i am tring to find more "UPGRADES" and most websites seem only to have parts for only older or newer models does anybody know a truely good website or shop in southern california to get good parts I.E. upgrade turbos, blow off valves, ECT. or even body kits for the S40 1.9 turbo 2002
still looking for a blow off valve to fit stock turbo

Unfortunately I don't know of to many performance upgrades for your car...especially in regards to more engine torque, turbo's etc. I looked at IPD and found virtually nothing. Vivaperformance has stuff for newer model S40's but nothing really for your car either. You might try looking over on http://www.s40concepts.net/newforum/ to see what others with your car have done or are doing. Good luck!

P.S. Edit: found this on the above forum- upgrading your turbo: http://s40concepts.net/forum/index.php? ... 5bb1a95ad0
My only concern with doing such a thing would be that your ECU probably needs tuning too and I don't know who does this for your car. You can probably search around on the site and find out.

Good luck again!

Good find but you have to realize that most if not all of their upgrades are for the newer version of the S40 (from 2004.5 and newer in the U.S.).

Cardid carrys upgraded exhaust parts and coilovers and brake kits. You can also take a TD04L 14T from a s60 2.5t and mount it to your turbine housing. Mamba tek also makes a stage 3 turbo rebuild kit for the stock 12t and 14t as well as a good tune from bsr or upsolute and there is always the cheap mbc route and turn the boost up to 13psi from the stock 7.5. Nuke makes a upgraded fuel rail and you can get a walbro pump and some 550cc bosch injectors. There are upgrades u just gotta look hard for the 40s

I'm late...I know, but this is useful information.

OP, Why not swap a Mambatek 14t turbo (349.00 dollars US) and call Upsolute and they will set you up with a good tune? Add a decent downpipe and 2.5 inch exhaust and that's worth over 50 horsepower (at the wheels) more than the stock mitsubishi 12t setup on the 1.9L.

Make sure to use your original hot-side turbo housing to take advantage of the twin scroll design. Nothing wrong with the way it comes, it just leaves a little on the table.

Not bad for under a grand.

So I had a clogged cat that caused a bunch of issues over heated the turbo.

Long story short I drilled it out and made my own high flow cat seems to have a lot more power now

I wanted to get my buddies 2.5 turbo and try messing with that .
I had bought a blow off valve it’s Useless
. Trying to figure out a way to make my s40 a standard
