I hope it's okay to cross-post on MVS.
I ONLY want opinions from people that have had at least a good amount of time with these SPECIFIC trim models to tell me how they like the comfort of the driver seat.
2001 S60- T5 trim only, not base trim
2005 S80- T6 trim only, not base trim
I use to own the 01 V70 base trim model, which those seats come in the V70 2.4T and XC, as well as the 01 S60 base/2.4t. I assume the T5 has more comfortable seats because it is an upgraded trim.
I specifically want to know if the 05 S80 T6 seats are more comfortable than the S60 t5.
I traded my 01 V70 base (17x,xxx miles) for an awesome 98 V70 XC (143,995 miles). I've had it since 9/30/19 and have finally decided I'm going to salvage the upholstery from another newer Volvo ($7.50 for whole seat, NOT a typo) to replace my XC (driver) upholstery. I have an extra driver seat from my junk car to use as guinea pig.
Opinion needed: 2001 S60 T5 VS 2005 S80 T6 driver seat comfort Topic is solved

You'll love the 2005 S80 T6 seat. It is well known the S80 seat is the best in the business. I have driven my 2004 S80 T6 197K and over16 years. Had a 2002 S80 T6 before it. My sister loved my S80 and bought one a 2005 S80 T6 highly optioned. Things like the Genuine wood, wood steering wheel 3 spoke, navigation system, 18 inch wheels, basically everything available. The difference between 04 back and 05 forward is the 05 seat bottom moves independent of the back. This allows you to move your back up or down to get the lumbar support just right!
I can easily drive my 04 S80 18-20 hours straight on a roadtrip and step out without a ache. I have left my sister's house 4.5 hours away with a backache and half way home realize my back no longer hurts. Somewhere Volvo outfitted a theater with S80 seats and the theater bought them as they were so comfortable. I can't remember where I saw that, a web search I'm sure it could be found if you're curious.
In case you decide to ever buy a S80 T6; Don't fall for the dreaded T6 transmission woes as its bs. I have floored the accelerator regularly in every car I ever owned on every drive. Never damaged a T6 transmission. A 05 is a old car, I bought my car new. XC90 T6 I understand don't last. That makes sense as the 4T65E replaced the 4T60HD for the 3800 Supercharged Buick Ultra and Riviera and whatever other GM cars used the Supercharged 3800. So a 3,800 pound car FWD with engine torque is what it was designed for. Not AWD SUV. Volvo should have put the 4T80E in The XC, but Ford bean counting executives owned Volvo when the XC90 came to be and I can't imagine they wanted a GM transmission to shine LOL. Just my opinion and experience with S80 T6 cars. June

I'll only be using the upholstery off of the seat because mine is the 98 V70 XC. I did hear about the awesome comfort. And yes the most known GM vehicle to use that SC 3.8L V6 was the 2004 Monte Carlo.June wrote: ↑02 Apr 2020, 19:26 You'll love the 2005 S80 T6 seat. I understood you were buying seats. Most are put off of buying a S80 2.9 or T6 because of all the hype passed around the internet over the Hydramatic transmission. In my pre children life (1980s through the mid 1990s) I was a secretary in the service department of a Buick dealer. I stubbed enough tickets in my lifetime to understand GM used to build a decent FWD automatic. The part about the S80 being a good car was FYI if you liked the seat, don't be scared of buying a S80 in the future. They will be prying the keys to mine out of my lifeless hand! I will buy a new XC90 eventually, but my S80 T6 stays.
I was thinking since the 2005 S80 has the independent bottom and back, you might have to use the S80 electric track. You are going to run into another problem in the SIPPS bag is activated differently in 99+ cars even P80 from what I have read on here. You might look into it if you want to keep the system functioning. Good luck, June

Remember June is the one who ventilated her seats with a Philips screw driver when the weather got hot. Just saying.......
Are you sure a P2 skin is going to go onto a P80 (1998) seat or am I misunderstanding the swap?

You are understanding the swap. I'm not positive they'll fit but I do have 2 driver seats and 2 passenger seats so I'll be using the electric passenger seat as a guinea pig for the skin swap.
I am hoping to buy 1 pair of S60 front seats and 1 pair of S80 front seats. and IF I manage to do that and the S60 upholstery fits, then the S80 pair will go on next into my 98 XC and the S60 pair will be 2 additional chairs for my livingroom.
I swapped my ENTIRE interior seats and dashboard from beach sand/ivory color scheme to Olive drab/beige. Since I have the extra sandy rear seats from my car, the smaller section serves as a comfy livingroom seat. I love it.
