Brake lights stay on

Brake lights stay on

HI all I have an issue in which I have a 2007 XC-90 in which the brake lights stay on after having an earlier issue with the Shifter and Brake light Switch.

The Switch is no longer connected and the light stays on. The shifter also comes out of park with no issue. The issue seems to now come from me yanking back on the shifter while trying to use the release button on the side under the shifter.
