Weird issue with CCM backlights

Post by ionianp2 »

Hi folks,

I hope all is well. I have been having this interesting problem for a while now on my '04 S60. Some of my CCM backlights may randomly go off and come back on, but the buttons themselves work.

Specifically: the on/off the A/C and the the STC button at the bottom of the CCM.

The A/C button if you lightly slap the dash on the side it will come on and stay on. I think that may be a contact issue.

For the STC button, things are trickier.

I have replaced the bulbs with new T4 bulbs and it doesn't seem to make a difference.

I even swapped positions between the STC button and any of its adjacent buttons and the problem seems to be within the STC button.

I would be interested in hearing other people's experiences. It's more of an annoyance than a problem.

I could buy a new STC button but they cost almost as much as a used CCM

Many thanks,

IonianP2

Sounds like you have a connection issue in the harness or have some bad solder joints. I would not rule out a problem in the DIM, which is upstream for wiring.

By 2006 Volvo had worked through the problems ROH standards caused in the 2001 time frame.

I purchased a used unit for under $30 delivered for a 2002 XC70. I would imagine you can find something on Craigslist or a local wrecker. Pulling it - you know - is easy. You could even test it before you buy it.
