Hey! I'm crackin open the volvo for some blower motor stuff, and noticed what looks like an old mount for something off the side of the radio in the passenger leg area. Any ideas?

Exciting! I've been daydreaming about modifying my radio with an aux port.. I wonder if there's anything like that hidden behind that little plug from the old mount! Thanks!

aux port for connecting your iphone or another cell phone to listen to music? Look at IPD website. And look for a product called Grom. I have it in my 2000 V70R with factory radio. Can play music off my phone thru bluetooth or thru USB connection/powering the phone too. Also you can use it for hands free talking on the phone too if you buy the Mic kit.

There is probably nothing but a hole under that plug. The head unit has an input that gets switched when the phone rings, which mutes the output to the speakers and brings up “phone” on the display. It doesn’t act like an aux in. Some ‘Parrot’ phone interfaces sit in line of the speaker out put and switch between radio out and phone out on a call, that requires an internal amp to drive the car speakers with the ‘line out’ output of the phone. You would see a box in that sits in the speaker plug wires if that was present.

+ 1 for Grom install.

The hole was for the power and antenna wire. It was a aftermarket carphone so popular in the 90s. The wire likely ran to the top center of the rear window. June
