hi guys
I have a Volvo V70 XC. built in 2002. 2.4 turbo
Fault code: P0340
Volvo fault code ECM-3000
fault can be cleared. after starting, the fault immediately returns
The Volvo specialist checked the timing of te timingbelt and is it stil correct. They replaced the CAM sensor. Also they measure the wires from ECM to the camsensor.
So yesterday it checked the voltage hem disconnected from the cam sensor bleu/black and red/whiteboards cable
Pin 1 5 volts
Pin 3. 3volts
After That i measure on the ECM connector the values are the same as on the cam sensor connector (disconected connector)
I think the 3 volts are suspicious.
could this indicate a faulty ECM?
who has experience with this?
Thanks!
Mike

The 3V is inconclusive. You might be seeing the RMS value of the signal.
What are you using as the ground reference?
With the key off. Check for shorts 1-2, 1-3 & 2-3.
Clean the connectors on the Camshaft sensor and the ECM.
Check for open wires between the Sensor and the ECM.
Based on your measurements:
One wire should be Voltage. it looks like that is pin one.
One wire is signal looks like that is pin two.
Pin three is most likely ground.
All three wires are connected to the ECM.

About the Volvo specialist.
I'm not going to post a reference but ... its a specialist in Volvo V70
diagnosis cost me a total of 800 euros without result.
1st time diagnosis. 6 hours of work. replaced the cam sensor and housing (before it was steel, now its a plastic one) cost 600 euros. malfunction after starting 2x.
2nd diagnosis. having measured the wiring and checked timing belt. costs 250 euros.
concession. learn to live with it. or it will become much more expensive
They told me that before there was maby a engine swap. Based on Some handmade markings on the engine

The bleu/black Wire has 3 volt on the connector to the cam sensor. (Connector disconected)
Red/white 5 volts
Measure with a multimeter. With the ground on de enginebay ground spot.
What i notice is that they replaced the connector on the cam sensor side.
The black cable is in the middle.
Blue/black on the left side
Red/white on the right side.
Can someone confirm this is correct?
