Follow-up question.
I just removed the outer plastic cowling and then the center steering piece of plastic before I ever touched the four (4) torx screws that hold the whole DIM in place. I know that you guys told me to disconnect the battery terminal but I did not as yet because I haven't even gotten to the plug on the reverse side of the DIM. I now get the SRS warning even without removing the DIM itself or the rear plug. How can that be since I did not touch any electrical wiring? Just pieces of plastic. By the way I decided to try the ignition key before removal of the DIM and of course the display works fine again. I will assume that I still need to get this repaired as it is now sporadic. Also how do I remove that SRS warning? Is this a dealer thing?

SRS light is usually an appropriate scanner tool reset - meaning the scanner has to be able to do it. Dealer works, but there are cheaper options. Most shops should have a scanner that will do it, but I would wait until the DIM is resolved.

Look in the phone book equivalent for local speedometer repair places - they can fix your problem.
