Hi
I have a 2006 V70 station wagon. I want to add an after market JVC head unit.
Got an Metro face plate convertor
I have it all ready to go....but, where do I find the Speaker connections.
I was planning on bypassing the Volvo amp.
I see a din with multi pins, which I understand goes to the amp as a Line level ( like an RCA), what I am looking for is the speaker harness so I can use the head units amp to provide output to the speakers.
The JVC head unit also has RCA outs which I can (at a pinch) get an adapter and use the volvo amp (which may solve my issues)
I have managed to wire it all and it is ready to go.
I understand the amp is under the Passengers seat.
This vehicle had an HU 850 head unit and in the rear ( station wagon) there is a Pioneer CD and a Carzoterria. ( sp).
It is my sons car and I would like to get him and running asap
Thanks

The amp is located under the right front seat on the floor, push seat all way back, you should reach the amp from the front. Seat two front floor bolts needs removed and seat lifted a bit. We need to disconnect the car battery so as not to get an SRS light and message, when disconnecting anything, amp, radio or climate unit

The cable for the speakers is hidden behind the head unit, to the left, two grey connectors wrapped in foam. The green plug at the head unit also powers separately the center dash speaker viewtopic.php?t=81301

Yes I could do that
I have been thinking that this might be a best way to go
The head unit has an amp and I was trying to make it easy
But if I can get an rca to din converter
It may we’ll be the best way
Thank you all for your help here

Aftermarket radio to Volvo OEM amp
You probably already found the adapter you need but ebay has them. You are looking for the aftermarket radio to OEM amp lead.
This was the first one that Googled up for me and has the inline RCA inputs to the DIN for the Volvo amp.

Note that this lead also has the wires to provide the 12v power, 'amp turn on' and ground required to power the Volvo amp. You will need to connect these for the Volvo amp to work.
Aftermarket amp
I have a Pioneer ampless head unit in my 2006 S60 and ran RCAs to a new amp in the trunk. I ran speaker wires back to the radio area where there is an inline socket for the front and rear speakers. I left the rear ones disconnected as I like the frontal soundstage. I connected the amp's speaker wires to an adapter lead that I plugged into the Volvo inline speaker lead plug.
The set from ebay below has the grey speaker plug, in case you decide to use your own amp instead of the Volvo one. But unless you add your own amp, it is unlikely that the aftermarket radio has a better amp than Volvo's external amp.
