Possibly starter or relay?
I have a 2006 Volvo xc90 with v8 ,my battery was too low to crank so i hooked on cables and tried to jump car off ,no click of the starter I put a another battery in and same thing nothing ,...how do i know if it's the starter for sure before i attempt to pull the starter please /thank you

If you can see the starter - using proper safety - use your spare battery with jumper cables run negative to chassis ground and the positive to the positive post on the starter. If you are confused pull up some videos and it will make sense.

If the above does work, also inspect closely the cables at the starter, may also try to smack the starter gently with a hammer while cranking, it might have gotten stuck. But if the car has sat for a while, my thoughts go towards a possible corrupted software - this may happen when these are stored for several weeks and the battery gets low, I've seen a few of these situations. A volvo tech suggested a software may get corrupted and it won't recognize the key, or at least the immobilizer doesn't properly turn off.
