HOW to improve performance of 1997 Volvo V70 2.5 10V car

I am a new owner of a stock 1997 V70 2.5 10v and i was thinking if its a car that needs any upgrades either in performance etc.. Am new to mechanics world but i am challenging myself to understand my car better..
