Intercooler weep hole
Intercooler weep hole
I have S70 2.5t 98r. They write everywhere that this song has no effect on the amount of air delivered to the engine. The hole shouldn't have a cork that clogs like a turbo blows? I have a place under the radiators where you can see how clean it is because it's blown with high pressure. Is it normal?

Re: Intercooler weep hole
Yes it is. It blows out any water or oil that makes it way in.
You can usually see the blow pattern on the tray under the car

Re: Intercooler weep hole
Intercoolers can collect water condensed from the compression of turbo and the pressure drop from cooling. For a time many manufacturers dealt with it by putting the drain in intercooler. The ECM calibrations assume some loss of MAF measured air from the leak. The designs of intercoolers and the connecting plumbing has changed to deal with evacuating the collected water. The symptoms of too much collected water can be as severe as severe misfire on a high throttle opening, even stalling. If enough has collected it can hydraulic one or more cylinders and bend valves. Ford F150 3.5L Ecoboost had some issues from water in cooler circuit in the first couple of model years.

Re: Intercooler weep hole
On the NA cars, the weep hole is under the driver seat.

Is something causing increased water accumulation?jimmy57 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 29, 2020 8:15 am Intercoolers can collect water condensed from the compression of turbo and the pressure drop from cooling.
