Hi
2004 Volvo S60 R

Dealer says the REM is the reason for the message

“Check Stop Lamp”

Says that if I buy one from a junk yard it still needs to be programmed and still might not work.

Do you agree?

Wants $900
Guarantees the part and work.

2nd question
- the driver seat motor is bad.
I’m going to try and replace it myself.

REM can be fixed (new shunt or relay).

Seat can be fixed, too. But first read the codes with DiCE/VIDA. You may have a problem in the electronic module, not the motor itself.

Volvo dealers range from helpful folks to thirsty parts sellers. Careful with them. As mentioned by vtl, the lower brake lights may be as simple as a relay on the REM, a 20 seconds fix. Decent discount, compared with the $900 quote. See this other topic viewtopic.php?t=37819 Same for the seat motor, power it first from the battery

Are there any YouTube videos on powering the seat from the battery or replacing a relay?

DEALER SAYS

Reminded me of Richard Dawson. SURVEY SAYS. Perhaps what the dealer says is also in percentages of right or wrong answers?
