2004 XC90 2.5T AWD Transmission service threads?

Post by mikkowus »

I have a 2004 volvo xc90 2.5t AWD with 155k miles. I just got vida 2013a working on a laptop. Haven't really learned the ins and outs of it yet, but want to put new transmission fluid in, and do an adaptive reset to the tranny to get rid of some shift "bumps". When it comes to selecting a transmission, I get the option for a 50/51 transmission Is that is what is in my car? And are there any threads or information that would point me in the right direction when it comes to servicing my transmission?

Hi there. I have also an 04 XC90 2.5T AWD with 210k miles I had it for the last 30k miles and have no record from previous owners about when the transmission was serviced. Thinking about doing a flush on the transmission fluid. Any advice, tips or recommendations will be appreciated since I don't have Vida/dice and kinda just following the YouTube video. Thanks

In my opinion, the best way to do this is just to warm up and then drain the transmission. Measure that amount and replace the fluid. repeat that procedure 4-5 times and you have effectively changed out the fluid.

For sure do not have the transmission "power flushed". You can do the remove hose method, and I would if the fluid is burnt; but for me, I just grab 12-15 qts. and do the drain and fill method.

Should have the same transmission and setup. You can connect to the lower hose as the car pump should be pumping into the lower radiator transcooler and coming up from the top. What's in the radiator will drain down so catch it with a pan.

Have Havoline in 3 cars now. Odyssey, S80 T6 and Lexus GS300. Cheap, full synthetic, multi-vehicle, DEXIII and JW3309. Use it for your power-steering flush also.

For reference. You will remove the hose at the plastic power-steering reservoir. Use a turkey baster to remove all the dirty fluid first. Disconnect the correct hose and cap the inlet and fill the reservoir.
