Can you turn the rotors on an '04 XC wagon? I'm not finding the minimum thickness anywhere. I'm getting an increasing shaking / pulsing under fast braking, as well as the barely-rolling grab as you pull up to a stop.
My son's Land Rover LR3 has massive rotors - the thing weighs 6000 lbs. For all that mass, they say you can't turn them - they have to be replaced.
Thanks -
Can P2 / XC / V70 rotors be turned? Or replace? Topic is solved

I took our 2001 V70XC rotors to Pep Boys years ago, and the guy said to replace with new. Zimmermann Z-Coated with Akebano has been working very well.

Rotors are so cheap these days it's not worthwhile turning them. At min thickness they will be less effective in dissipating heat and even with new pads they are not at max pedal height as the rotors are at min.
If the rotors are not true after turning you'll lose that money. You won't know if the rotors are bad from hot spots or they did a poor job. Those using the machines are less experience these days also so you never know if they've done a correct job or perhaps even cut to below the Min.
Buy FCP and you have brakes for life.

My thoughts are if they can be turned and still meet spec and the price is right then turn them, assuming they are OEM. Turning is usually about $15 so it is a cost effective solution.
Volvo designed the car and assuming the rotors are Volvo I would not hesitate. I trust a turned OEM rotor that is within spec over an unknown quality new rotor. RickHalePaker lists the specs for you - 23mm it appears.

Wow.
I’ll measure my fronts and check the old receipts to see if they’ve been replaced. He certainly didn’t buy Volvo parts.
Thanks folks!

If you take a wire wheel to the outer perimeter you can usually find the MINTH number stamped into the face.
I used to keep 2 sets of front rotors for the cars. When one began to warp I’d pull them off, and replace with the freshly turned pair. Take the warped set & turn them for my backups. Turning is $25/pair where I go so you can stretch the usable lifespan out to some extent. The thinner the rotor gets, though, the shorter you can run it before it begins to warp again.
