Hi All,
I've got a 1998 V70R FWD and finally decided I would stick a tow bar on it, I found one from a "MK1 V70" on ebay for £50 delivered... perfect. It arrived, I looked under the car but my car doesn't seem to have any bolts at the spacing on the frame... how bizzare...
Obviously I don't have any fitting instructions as it's from a breakers so I'm going by eye here, either I'm missing something about how it fits or maybe the R has a different chassis design? I found a vague reference elsewhere online that suggested the the R might need a towbar that suits the AWD? I know the front control arms on the R are the heavy duty versions, the same as the diesels and mount differently so perhaps there's some other differences too?
I've attached a photo of the towbar behind the car so you can see the hole spacing and approximate widths of the bolts but I forgot to take any photos under the car.

Hi NewKidOnTheBlock,
That tow bar may work, but you might want to consider another style, with all of the stuff in the way for the AWD vehicles. I can show you how mine is on my 2000 V70XC, which should have a similar rear end to yours, and offer up other suggestions. I can post pics tomorrow since it's so late here in the U.S.

In the US, a different style is common that requires no modifications to the frame and uses only three bolts

Thanks all for your comments, I've found that the seller sent me the towbar without the brackets! Refund is on it's way and now to find another FULL kit!
Cheers

Why don’t they put a better coat of paint on those things?
