Yes it was but abscate won't get much resistance from us.
Please, don't let these bad jokes distract us from the main object here.
Namely the stupid design of the circuit board. There's no reason for the consumer to have to concern himself with the health of a car alarm. A battery should be changeable, not affixed to a circuit board.
It isn't that I'm bitter. It's that I went printer ink cartridge shopping today. What a bunch of needless confusion and ridiculous pricing. I'm feeling victimized.

If it is an HP printer they only store the last three cartridges in ROM, so save them until you have three, then have them refilled and rotate.

Turns out there's a Volvo dealer alarm disable I might give a try, can't find a siren module anywhere near me.
You'd think Halifax would have some, seeing as Volvo's were made there for a while....

Look for one in a wrecked vehicle. You can put a new battery in it and be on your way.
