Thanks Pete - removing the INA Serpentine Belt Tensioner from my shopping list, leaving me with:
Shopping list:
Contitech Timing Belt https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... belt-tb331
INA Timing Belt Tensioner: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 30637955oe
INA Timing Belt Idler Pulley: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 146376-1-2
Contitech Serpentine Belt: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... t-6dpk1841
Gates Serpentine Belt Tensioner Pulley: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... es-8627994

Is that Gates Serpentine Belt Tensioner Pulley known to be good? It doesn't have any reviews on FCP and is the only non-Volvo brand Serpentine Belt Tensioner Pulley for my car on the site.

Keep in mind that those Fcpeuro reviews are usually from people who just bought the parts - not long term reviews. Personally I don't read the reviews on Fcp. Don't know for the Gates pulley, but at 70k miles, keep your old pulley for spare - these are usually good for 100K or more, and in fact you can even undo the bearing seal gently and repack them. While there, you may also test by hand the A/C compressor pulley bearing, it gets dry around 100k miles.

Edited to remove mistakes.

You can post a question asking the country of origin in the Q & A on FCP’s listing for that pulley. They typically answer within 24 hours.

Someone recently posted in the “what did you do to your P2 Volvo today” thread about a sheared off serp pulley.

I change out all timing belt components & serp belt/pulley at 70-80k intervals. It might sound obsessive but it’s what works for me.

Edited post above. ^^^

I’m pretty certain this one will fit your 2.5T. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... escription

I do have 2 gates on the shelf but I looked & the ones in the cars are INA. It’s hard for me to keep track sometimes! Might pass on the Gates - China is visible on my hard parts.

You're right - it fits. I don't know why it didn't come up in my previous search. On clearance too!

Got this done on Friday. Old timing and serpentine belts looked to be ok - no apparent stress cracks - but better safe than sorry. The mechanic said he would have recommended changing the whole serpentine belt idler instead of just the idler pulley, as the idler itself gets worn too. This was a specialty Volvo shop.

How much were you charged ? What's a good price range for this job ?

I paid $283 plus tax for the labor. Maybe not the best price out there, but these guys are Volvo professionals. Also definitely cheaper than it would have been if I didn't provide the parts.

Wow you're lucky ! I've called 3 places so far in the Seattle and neighbouring areas. All 3 places are Volvo Shops not dealerships just specializing in Volvo's.

a) $550 incl parts
b) $483 without parts
c) $400 without parts

If anyone knows any good place within this area please let me know. There are a lot of Volvos in this area. Not sure why it's hard to find a good price, but then again I'm new here's, as I grew up in and lived Canada prior to moving here
