Need 98 V70 XC 150 Mi average sale value, had an accident

Post by CIK7 »

I had an accident and the damage is enough that 2 people told me the at-fault party's insurance probably will total it. I need to get a bunch of private party sale values based on a 98 V70 XC with 149, 2xx miles. I understand the KBB is about $900-$2100. But I've seen lower mileage (130k-150k miles) XCs going for more than that. Can y'all please help?

You really need guidance from people in OK as every state is very different in how they handle this.

What is common is things like:

I Just rebuilt the engine - that cost me $2000. Is my car now worth 2k more than than KBB?

Answer - no, Its still worth the KBB.

2 You can and MUST negotiate the first offer up and up. Remember, they are racking up storage charges. Call the offending insurance company and ask them where to send the bill for there rental car you need to make up for your lost transport while they settle.

3 After you negotiate the price up for the settlement . you get to negotiate the buyback price down to as low as you like. That is, if you want the car carcass. Its typically less than 10% of the agreed settlement value.

4 Dont commit fraud. The insurance has seen very kind of grift you can possibly imagine; they will see you, they will look for you, they will find you,........

All I can do here is offer my experience when I got rear-ended and responsible party's insurance declared vehicle a total loss.

My experience was very swift and easy. I had a 98' V70 with 115k miles in decent shape. The insurance company offered me $3684. This was in San Francisco so offers may be higher here, on average. Hope that info helps.

Update: I went and got estimate $3,000 of repairs, not including slightly damaged front lower suspension. The fender is pretty damaged, front door was dented a bit and scuffed up a bunch and slightly bent out of place, mirror is trash, front turn signal bumped out and cracked, front window not working well. The number in my head is $2,600, considering this is a lower 149k miles vs a lot of the 98 xc being 190k-230k miles and costing $1400-$1700. 130k miles is around $3k. This is a national average because Oklahoma hardly has any old V70 models to compare. I can't find any for sale in Oklahoma. So let's say I negotiate for, $2600. Does that mean the buy back would be about $250-300? And what do you mean by fraud?

My car is still drivable and I am still driving it. Just a little extra shaking from the front passenger wheel being bumped.
