1998 V70
When the switch is selected to blow air out of the upper vents only, it still allows air to come out from the vents below the dash. Please advise as to what I need to search on the forum or advise on possible issues and the fix.

Thank you.

Dumb question - Are the vent roller wheels on each dash vent open?

Question is why does it NOT ONLY blow up onto the windshield. Why does air still blow onto the floor? Which setting have you got the heating knob set to? Is it the one in the picture you attached?

FBK - trust me, no dumb questions. Yes, the vents are open.

Neil - I have the temperature knob sent to cool/cold. There is no air blowing onto the windshield. Yes, the attached picture shows the selector knob pointing toward the setting where air only comes out of the vents (not those pointing on the windshield, but those pointing on the passenger(s).

Should be the dash vents only, IIRC.
Probably a bad flap actuator/linkage/flapper
or it isn’t getting the correct command from
the ECC.

How does it do with the other air output directions?
Do both temp dials/flappers get results?
How about the recirc function?

If all of the other actuators/ flaps respond,
then your ECC is probably OK. Then you
can dig into the specific actuator/flap for
output diversion between floor,dash and
windshield.

FBK

Everything else seems to be working, so I am thinking you are right about looking for issues with the flapper that diverts air to the vents blowing on passengers. thank you so much for the insight. I will be sure to reply with an update.

There are images and walk throughs about
all of the actuators around here someplace...
At work right now, but I’ll look this weekend.
