About flame trap plastic screen....remove it completely and throw it away. It's not needed and it was discontinued in s,v70 models.

All it does is clogging up with gunk not allowing an engine to breathe and makes all additional problems.

Cooling fan relay is on fan shroud....they rarely fail, but wires and connections comming to it fails all the time.

Good to know, thank you.

I got it running today, without the MAF to see if it would idle and it did. I got it up to temp and banged the relay and the fan kicks on and off. I'm thinking there is something wrong with the relay as it seemed that it got hot and melted the top of the relay case some. I have one on order from eBay. I will keep everyone updated on the progress. I went to a junk yard today and managed to find a good intake tube and ECO/SPORT/WINTER switch as the one inside mine was broken and throwing a code. Someone had unfortunately pulled the fan and relay already.

Thanks Again for the Help!
-Michael

If you're buying a relay, make sure that it's Volvo relay, aftermarket ones will not last more than 6 months...a year max.

The best way is to find original used one from junkyard...but before you replace it....check wiring and connections on it.

If it runs with maf disconnected and won't run with it....it means that maf is bad. Also oem Bosch with maf.Aftermarket ones will not work properly...if work at all.

Did they change the design of the flame trap unit for 96? It seems to look different on my 95?

Your '95 is a 10v car.
Whole ribbed hose, connections and inserts from airbox are different.

Hello,

I went to the pick and pull yard in Cumberland, and while most was already pulled, i managed to score some switches i needed and an intake tube/clamps. The radiator fan and relays where already gone. I have a relay unit on order and a new fan coming in as it seems to be binding and give intermittent click sound, however when the fan if spun by hand, it will start spinning.

Thank You,
-Mike

Hello All,

The new Bosch MAF is in and the car is running great. I've went through and replaced various bulbs, such as shift light, climate control, glove box, trunk, armrest/rear courtesy light and ashtray ring. Tasca Volvo happened to have two of those specialty bulbs (30710781) in stock for the shift and lighter ring. I also have about 10 of the 7219 bulbs on order to do the dash switch back-lights as well. While propping up the console and working underneath it I managed to badly damage the shift knob and chunks of material peeled of it. I have another on order as well.

The only thing I need now is the radiator fan, which should be in Monday or Tuesday and i can get the rest of it back together. The rest of the stuff I have coming in is all extras, like yellow fog light bulbs and Volvo branded dust caps for the valve stems as well as some new headlight wiper blades.

Next thing to dive into is the A/C, fully charged, compressor kicks on and off, but no cold air. Also cannot locate the High pressure side fitting to test the condition of the compressor.

Thanks!
-Mike
