VIDA DICE, which one to buy?

My $70 eBAY DiCE unit crapped out after about 2 hours of usage. I can still see it in device manager but it will not longer communicate with Vida or with the DiCE diagnostic tool program. I tried to go with a well-rated vendor but seems that wan't good enough.

So a bump here - any current recommended source(s) for a DiCE unit?

Sorry for the delay Ian.... the DICE units that we get from ebay are fine, in every way. You can use this DICE unit with VIDA 2014D (the cracked version that we all use at home), or with VIDA 2015 (the current version that dealers use, which requires a license.)

A good dice unit, shipped from the US, and quick.... is $72 on ebay.

Corrupted DVD's.... dual layer is not something i've seen. I've seen incomplete files mainly. You'll attempt to install, for weeks, and it'll constantly give you headaches. Mainly because the files are incomplete.

Is the "Licensed" unit any different than those on eBa, i.e. we use.

DiCE Admin Tool connects, and tests it OK over USB

I updated VIDA from 2014A to 2014D. 2014D open fine, but would not communicate with DiCE. Nor would VIDA read the car via DiCE over ODB2.

Am I missing a step in sequence?

Yes, they are different. The genuine ones have Bluetooth and may have a different controller board. But it still works.

I’m not sure what that issue is... probably a DICE firmware update?

For what it is worth, I just bought this unit and used it today to reset my SRS warning light on the DIM on my 2002 V70 2.4T, and it worked just fine.

I'm not affiliated with this seller and am not getting compensated in any way. just sharing information. I will say that I followed RickHaleParker's guidance for the VIDA install on my Win 10 Pro laptop. I did NOT use the software that was provided with the DiCE module.

Yes. It can. But you’ll be using vida 2015 to program anything. Which is $75+tax just to login. Then it’s extra to download the software you want to program.

Or you can check eBay for one. You’ll pay more for a US seller usually. Or around $90-95 if you don’t mind waiting 2-3 weeks. They are all the same these days.
