99 v70xc rear subframe

Good morning, so my car a couple weeks ago decided to start spewing gas from the top of the tank somewhere. So I decided to drop the whole rear end. Honestly not as bad as I expected. Here are some pics of the progress. The front two bolts snapped as expected. Now seeing the the condition of everything, I'm thinking my plan it to do the lines to get her running. Then see about getting another sub frame to rebuild to install later. I'll post updates as I go.

Don't see any of the pictures unfortunately, but it may help to look for my 00 'R' rear sub-frame re-build. Be warned that several of the sub-frame bushes are NLA for AWD models. I did try to get several poly bush manufacturers to consider making some and offered a sub-frame and old bushes to help, but none wanted to do it.

Also many of the rubber hoses and fuel lines are also MLA as well as things like the fuel filter mounts and fittings. If you get really stuck I may have some good used, rebuilt or new parts, but they are not easily accessible currently as they are in storage until I can get my new garage built.

Sorry my phone died and life just got away from me. Your thread had helped immensely thank you! I unfortunately was in a position that needed to get the car back together quickly. Got her together and running well. My plan is to see of i can get another sub frame and take my time building it. Here are some pics I have. I don't have any of the fixes I made because I was under the gun and had to kinda slam it back together.

Apart from lots of rusty looking parts, what was the actual issue? There was another member suffering the exact same problem in terms of a leak from the top of the tank somewhere and was trying to drop the sub-frame also on his S70 AWD.

The sub-frame looks in pretty good condition from what I can see. There is some surface oxidation but no obvious sins on the 2 mounting 'rail's' where it is bolted to the main frame. The rear portion is usually the worst.

I was able to pull these when they were available at PnP in about 2.5 hours without butchering anything.

If you plan to re-build one, be aware many bushes and parts are NLA on these cars. As are fuel pipes and Emissons pipes. It will be toward the end of the year, but I hope to have retrieved all my parts stash from storage and I have some parts there I may be able to let go.

I have tried to get a few of the Poly bush manufacturers to build a set of poly bushes for the AWD sub-frame but none would commit. I have a full set of used bushes I kept for that purpose.

The return line was rotten through where it makes then turn towards the filler neck. The sub frame has corroded around the bolt holes and is getting thin. I'm hoping if I can find a decent one and take my time building it, i'll let you know when I get to that point if I need anything. I don't think it will be anytime to soon. Thanks

If yo are looking for a good sub-frame, I would look for one from a southern state or one where salt is not used like CA. I got 2 from British Columbia in Canada West coast for these reasons. Fitted one and have a spare.
