I'm going to sell my 850, since it needs work and I just don't have time to deal with it right now.
1997 Volvo 850 wagon
5-speed manual trans
272,000 miles
no significant rust (was a southern car half it's life)
many new parts over the last few years:
- fuel pump, alternator, radiator, brakes, plugs, e-brake, and more
(I have all records since it was bought new)
2nd set of alloy rims with the summer tires as well as these rusty steelies with snows.
The bad:
The engine has very low compression on 1 cylinder due to a burnt valve. So needs the head rebuilt, a new head, or a new engine.
I've unplugged the fuel injector to that cylinder so no raw fuel is getting into the exhaust. I've been driving it as is for 6 months, but I need something with more power on the hills
Other than this, it's in good shape, for a well used 24 year old car.
So, for someone who can take apart an engine, or has another 850 around to use for parts, this could be perfect. Or use as a parts car.
I've loved this car, and driven it all around the country over the past 6 years. I'll be very sad to see it go, but I can't work on it myself and need something newer.
