Re: Broken fuel line clip to fuel filter

Fellas, in all seriousness, has anyone rebuilt this line?

Image

It appears that it's a hard nylon line (wrapped in regular 3/8 rubber fuel line) with that useless pressure fitting on the end of the line and a threaded barb on the other end...

The only part I can't for the life of me identify is the threaded barb fitting. I'm almost positive it won't be available at Home Depot. (It can probably be reused, no?) Generic fuel lines, both hard nylon and rubber, are available on Amazon, I think you need around 6-9 feet of each. That's about $50 in lines.

$14 - 10" of 5/16" hard nylon fuel-grade tubing: https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-800-074-F ... +fuel+line

$22 - 25' of 3/8" rubber fuel-grade tubing: https://www.amazon.com/Pro-1-Inside-Dia ... +fuel+line

$10 - 5/16" quick connect fitting: https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-800-080-Q ... ZVZ0GF4489

(This should be enough for two line rebuilds, no?)

Update: Finally repaired the leaky fuel line in my '98 V70 (base) with a P2 filter, quick connect clip, 5/16" hard plastic fuel line, two 8mm clamps, and a heat gun. So far, so good. No leaks!

Folks, I have recovered a complete set of fuel line fittings from my parts 1998, so if anyone needs these, they will be available as soon as I replace my fuel filter on my 1999 without breaking anything

😀😀😀

Bruno..next time I’m down let’s get rid of those hose clamps for double stainless oetikers which will last longer than those silver cheese ones

ImageI also got the same issue a few days ago. I posted my issue and got sent here right away as the best option for solutions. I didn't want to have to go with a new filter so after a ton of research by myself and my father in law we came up with this solution

Doman has LOTS of car repair solutions. They try to make improved parts, not just parts that fit. I try to check their web site https://www.dormanproducts.com/ when I have a problem to requires an expensive OEM replacement. They do not seem to offer direct selling from their web site, but if you find a part you need, you can ask your local helpful auto supply to order for you. Also, Summit Racing https://www.summitracing.com/
has many of their parts available.

Update May 2020

Going through this same ordeal on the 1999 - broke the downstream fitting on the fuel filter, and buying Dorman parts to rebuild the fuel filter to rollover valve fitment.

Fuel filter neck is 8mm

Barbed fitting for nylon lines is 6mm outer , 4mm inner.

Guard those 1999 2000 rollover valves - they are NLA and you have to find a FWD only 1999 2000 to get that part in the PnP

Nice cheap repair with the Dorman kit

That rollover valve is special to 1999 2000 so be careful with those fittings

Install tips

Nylon hose goes INTO hot water for 10 minutes to soften it. I used boiled water in saucepan

The small beige tool is agripper. For forcing the hose into the barbs.

You need oetiker clamps to seal, hose clamps won’t work on line this small

Lubricate nylon hose with a few drops light oil.

I made a circle rather than cut to fit, and also chafe relieved with some fuel line
