S80 coolant overflow tank 2nd hose??

What is the second hose connected to the S80 coolant overflow tank top? It goes down and into the engine cover. I bought a replacement coolant tank and it only has one hose nipple on top/ I'll be ordering the right part, but I'm curious where that other hose goes.

On my non turbo it's simply an overflow hose from the radiator. Worth checking the clamp is tight, so it does not loose pressure - the tank is pressurized. If you notice white deposits around this hose, it may not be tight enough

Yep, same here on my 2.4T. It goes to the top of the radiator.
