Want to have OBD1 for 1996 850t

Post by 850 »

I have a 1996 850 turbo and would like the pin setup for OBD1. If anybody has one or information that would help me I would appreciate it.
I am not sure if I have to get an engine wiring harness for a 1995 850t or if I can just get the wiring that has the pins that go on the computer housing.

You can't retrofit OBDI in OBDII car,but you can use flash code reader for ECU and ECC since '96 850 T5 have M4.3 management which still produce flash codes.
All other modules are fully OBDII.

I think I can figure out how to pull the flash codes. So I can view flash codes but cannot enter codes to test components like OBDI? I just purchased a Bosch 1350 code reader hoping it would help me view transmission codes, ABS codes, and maybe even allow me to open ABS valves.
Thank you for your response. I guess the way I really want to go is just to buy a 1995 850 T5 if I can find one. I really like the OBDI on these cars as you can do so much with it like open each transmission solenoid, test climate control etc.

'95 will have both....OBDI under the hood and OBDII at center console.
From '96 there was only OBDII at center console.

No...you can't enter OBDI codes in OBDII car.
