I hope all is well. I came across one of Oragex's video's with regards to rust on strut towers and I was wondering if anyone was able to disconnect them from the tower without affecting alignment.
The haynes manual says to take a measuring caliper and "measure the distance from the back of the shock absorber to the outer edge of the hub carrier mounting lug".
I have done that in the past, without much success and I was wondering if anyone did any different sort of trick to disconnect it?
My plan is to clean the area in the inner part of the strut tower, remove any surface rust by sanding (or use a converter), applying some POR-15 over it, and rubberized undercoating over that, with a finish of fluid film (maybe an overkill?
I figured this is a good time since I am not driving the car much and I do plan on keeping it for a long time.
Let me know your thoughts.
