Tuneup/spark plug question

Post by subzerocarfanatic »

I wanted to ask, what is the best suited spark plug for the C70 2.3 Turbo?
It has brand new NGK Platinum in it right now but after the melted coil #3 issue I was going to replace all the coils and was questioning the plugs, I found a used OEM BOSCH coil set of 5 with 10,000 miles on them for $55, is that a good price and ok to use these or should I fork out for new ones? I found a new set of original Volvo plugs for $55 is why i'm asking.
The set of coils i found say they are for 2003-2005 XC70 but the number on the coil tube is 1 220 703 014 which is the same number on my coils, won't these work on the C70 2.3?

If the numbers match, they are ok.
About spark plugs....gap is critical on turbo engines...so use volvo set of 5 for turbo engines or cheap copper NGK or Bosch and gap them properly.

Why do the OEM Volvo ones not come pre set?

That's a great price for the coils and if the numbers match, they will work. Specs say same part number for those cars too https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... 16#fitment

Plugs I the Volvo ones are gapped properly out of the box (0.030, or can go to 0.028) and will last a good 50k miles. I would go with those. You can also save a few bucks and get the exact same plugs without the Volvo label on them https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo- ... sch-fr7dpp

Who said that?
They do.
Proper gap setting is for cheap copper Bosch or NGK.

If spark plugs are replaced regularly and if you maintain charging system, they can last forever.
DIS system doesn't like low charging output from the alternator and battery must be healthy.

What about using these since the entire harness is not a viable option ?
