95 850 steering rack LHD vs RHD question

my lhd 850 has wear out trw steering rack, does not leaking but free travel to both sides is out of tolerance. I own other trw steering rack from rhd car, which is ok no free travel, no leaking and I become freak idea to change bowels from rhd to lhd case. Anybody can tell me this is good idea or total stupidity? Does trw manufacturing ( cost saving ) exactly same rods and rack pinion for rhd or they are different ?

That's a very intresting question. I have no idea what the answer is, but I'm intrigued - hopefully someone else will be able to clarify!

Like cookeh I have no idea if they are reversible. You would have to ask TRW if that is the case.

If the only problem is the inner and outer track rods then those may be able to swap over, but the internals of the rack itself it is hard to say. Another option is to see if you can ask a re-builder of racks if there is something specific to a LHD or RHD rack that is specific.

locale rebuilder have no experience with rhd racks and I thing that UK rebuilder have no experience with lhd.
