Almost stalling at low rpms won't rev over 3000

Post by JLv70t5 »

98 v70t5

Took it out earlier and everything seemed fine until I got to 5th gear and noticed it stopping at 3k so I downshifted and it wouldnt accelerate at all. At this point my oil light and battery light came on. I pulled over and tried to start driving again and had no acceleration at all (i thought my,throttle arm fell off) ended up stalling it. Started it up and the lights were off popped the hood and manually opened the throttle. It sounded like it was about to stall out when barely opening but then revved up and would keep doing this a couple times. Was able to drive it back home but it kept bogging down and almost stalling or seemed fine until I got to 3k rpms and then would lose acceleration again. For a couple minutes it seemed like nothing was wrong and then would start doing it again. When i got home i put it in neutral and revved it a few times and it sounds like it's about to stall at first then revs up normal.

I have no idea where to even start any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

Maybe check the catalytic converter for a restriction on exhaust or check that your alternator is charging at the battery and not running on battery voltage alone
