Re: Help with powering S60 seat -- Not in a Car
Started on it tonight, got about halfway before my soldering iron crapped out. This is what I'm planning on when done. yellow line simulating the wire. Does this look right to you?

Finally got around to finishing the seat. I ended up removing the slider mechanism and ordering a shorter cylinder for the office chair base to lower the seat height a bit. Then I used some 1 inch ply and some L brackets to mount it to where the slider had been attached. I had to trim down the metal on the arm that lowers the rear to make space for the L bracket. All in all not too bad once you get it worked out.

WAIT WAIT are you bypassing the module and powering the motors directly via those factory switches? Are those factory switches rated for high currents, is there a load cutoff to prevent motor burn?

As long as you cut power when the seat is fully reclined thats when the current will rocket to about 10amps, this will over time kill the switches and damage the motor or will have a hot (fire) office seat.
I dont recommend people try this mod in their cars.

You should able to use the limit switches to cut the motor power easily, look for the little roller switches on the track for angle and tilt. The fore aft motor has an internal limit switchdarrylrobert wrote: ↑11 Jan 2021, 05:11 As long as you cut power when the seat is fully reclined thats when the current will rocket to about 10amps, this will over time kill the switches and damage the motor or will have a hot (fire) office seat.

Both switches are normally open you need to cut the power to the full stopdirection only, so that you can still reverse the seat. That’s left as an exercise for the student.
A different approach by M. Sade is to use the limit switch to discharge an electrical shock to alert the user s/he is approaching the limit.

Hello folks!
Thanks for the great read on this thread. On friday i brought home a new interior for my V50. My old interior is fully manual, the new driver seat is powered. Since no one can help me with information on how to get the powered seat activated (e.g. with VIDA and a subscription, because no one knows the part number for the activation) my idea was to do it this way. Add 12v to the seat and just use it that way.
Now i read something, that it is way more complex with a driver seat than with a passenger seat.
The interior is at my parents at the moment so i can't send any actual pic of the switches, but can i have any success?
If i don't have any chances on get the drivers seat to move i can't install the interior in my car.
Thanks so much!
